Dass said that the Centre has allotted 7 lakh houses under PMAY-G scheme for the year 2021-22, out of which grants for 5.10 lakh houses will be distributed on May 19. This is going to be the first time in Assam that such a huge numbers of houses under the scheme will be allotted at one go, he said.

Dass added that besides the allotments, the beneficiaries will also receive the first instalment of funds for their houses in their accounts. A total of Rs 1,657.50 crore will be given as the first instalment to the beneficiaries, he informed.

The Minister further said that the State Government aims to cover all the rural areas of the State under the scheme within 2024.
