Dispur to Provide Ration worth Rs 2000 to Poor Families in Containment Zones for 14 Days

The Assam government announced special assistance to it's or economically weak families in the containment zones for 14 days. Further the government decided to provide food items worth Rs. 2000 in order to mitigate the difficulties faced in the recent days.

Notably, the fund will be provided by Deputy Commissioner to the concerned Circle Officer/ Block Development Officer for procurement of food items at market rates, who will then hand over the food items to the local committees/officials for handing over to the family. The government has decided the food items (in kind) as per indicative break-up to each poor or economically weak family in containment zone:

The items are: Rice 15 kg worth Rs. 500.00, Dal 2 kg worth Rs. 300.00, Oil 2 litre worth Rs. 300.00, Salt 1 kg worth Rs. 30.00, Potato 5 kg worth Rs. 150.00, Onion 2 kg worth Rs. 120.00, Other Vegetable/ Egg/ Milk etc. worth Rs. 300.00 and any other essential items worth Rs. 300.00, which is equivalent to Rs. 2000.

Further, the funds have been released under SDRF for COVID-19 outbreak which will be utililized for this purpose. The Deputy Commissioners may also allow the local committees/ officials to procure the food items etc, if required.
