GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to provide scooties to accomplished students who have cleared their higher secondary (HS) examinations. The distribution ceremony will be held on November 30. In the HS examinations conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), boys who have received 75 per cent and above will be receiving scooties, and girls who have scored 60 per cent and above will be receiving scooties, covering insurance and registration costs. The government has also urged the students to be careful of fraudulent information, misleading them with calls into making them online payments and asking them for money for registration and insurance via UPI.
Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu informed this on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter): “The Assam government will distribute (on 30 Nov) Scooties to students who scored 60% (girls) and 75% (boys) in their HS exams, covering insurance and registration costs. However, some students are receiving fraudulent calls asking for money for registration and insurance via UPI. I urge recipients not to pay and report these calls to nodal principals, as these costs are already handled by the government.”
