GUWAHATI: With the constant rise in COVID-19 cases in the State of Assam, the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam Education Department, B. Kalyan Chakravorthy has directed Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) not to allow admission to class-XI.

In a letter addressing to the Director, Secondary Education, Assam, it stated, "With reference to the subject cited above, I am directed to inform you that in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic in the State of Assam and also because SEBA has not been able to conduct the class-X examination and therefore you are requested kindly to instruct all the Colleges/Higher Secondary Schools/ Sr. Secondary Schools not to allow admission to class-XI during the current academic year till the conduct of the class-X/AHM Board examination by the SEBA and subsequent declaration of result by the Board."

This comes after, reports of several junior colleges and Sr. Secondary School started enrolling students with the HSLC exams being held in the state.

Notably, the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) board is yet to receive a green signal from the state health department to conduct the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2021.
