GUWAHATI: Suspended Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Rounak Ali Hazarika, who was remanded to judicial custody by the court of Special Judge here on Saturday, has to face another inquiry into his health condition.

Hazarika, who was arrested by the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell (SVC) in connection with a disproportionate asset (DA) case on October 5, was remanded to 10 days custody of CM's SVC on October 6.

However, Hazarika was admitted in Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) due to his cardiac problem. The senior IPS officer has been brought back to the custody of CM's SVC on October 13 after GMCH has discharged him from the hospital. Doctors in the GMCH have discharged as his health condition was found normal.

"Hazarika was not cooperative with the interrogators during the investigation. We found nothing from him," said Rosie Kalita, superintendent of police, CM's SVC. Even as the court remanded him to judicial custody, it granted permission to the CM's SVC to grill Hazarika inside the jail if necessary.

"The court has also ordered the DGP for a separate inquiry on Hazarika. All clinical tests were found normal. That means he pretended. He was trying to mislead the investigation agency. He was occupying ICU bed depriving the genuine patients. It is a serious matter," the SP informed quoting the court order.

"The inquiry should be conducted by an officer not below the rank of DIG or IGP," she said.
