GUWAHATI: To celebrate International Yoga Day in a befitting manner, the Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) has announced that the institute will conduct a research project to understand yoga's role in improving the quality of life in patients with cancer.

The research project will be carried out under the supervision of Dr Mouchumee Bhattacharyya, Professor of Radiation Oncology and Dr Kaberi Kakati, Assistant Professor of Head and Neck Surgery. The institute observed the day with an hour-long yoga performance by specialist Anitha T from New Delhi via webinar maintaining COVID-19 protocol.

Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, Director of BBCI, said the treatment of cancer poses physical problems to the patient. Cancer patients normally receive multimodal treatments over a long period with accompanying morbidity, he said.
