Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Award to be conferred on actress Raveena Tandon

GUWAHATI: The Beltola Bohagi Utsav Ujjapan Samiti announced that Dr Bhupen Hazarika Award will be conferred to veteran actress Raveena Tandon this year.

In a press meet, the president of the Ujjapan Samiti, Narayan Deka informed that Beltola Bohagi Utsab, 2023 will be organized from April 20 to April 22. And on April 22, Raveena Tandon will be honoured with Dr Bhupen Hazarika Award ceremonially. The award has been conferred to different veterans in the fields of literature and culture since 2012. The award carries a sum of Rs. 200000, a memoir, a citation and an Angabastra.

A Patmadoi Competition (2023) will also be organized carrying an award of Rs. 200000 along with a citation. And the best Bihu performing group will be awarded Rs. 100001. The 2nd Bihu group will be awarded Rs. 51001. And the best Dholiya and Pepuwa (bugle) will be awarded Rs. 25001 each.

Moreover, a souvenir book will be released by the President of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr Suryakanta Hazarika on April 21 on the occasion of which Deeplina Deka and Shankuraj Konwar will perform their songs. On April 20, Cultivators, a popular music band, will perform on the Bihu stage. And on the closing day, Zubeen Garg and Zublee will grace the occasion with their songs.

The Bihu committee has also announced that they will offer a financial aid with Rs. 200000 to Dipak Sarma, a popular flutist of Assam.
