GUWAHATI: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) is drafting the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) plan. While drafting the DRR plan, the ASDMA has sought the views of various government departments.
Assam is prone to disasters like floods and earthquake. Keeping this in mind, the draft DRR plan lays down that all government departments must keep aside 3 per cent of their budgetary allocation for disaster mitigation.
The ASDMA will place the draft plan before the State Cabinet for final approval. If the draft plan gets the Cabinet's nod, government departments will have to keep aside 3 per cent of their budgetary allocation for disaster management and mitigation.
