GUWAHATI: A four-month long Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for agro-based entrepreneurs of Assam organized by IIE successfully concluded.
The valedictory and certificates distribution ceremony was organized after successful completion of the last batch. The ceremony was attended by Dr Lalit Sharma Director, IIE, and other dignitaries.
The main objective of the EDP implemented by IIE and sponsored by Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Assam under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) was to build the capacity of the existing agro-based entrepreneurs across Assam. Project Development Objective (PDO) of APART through this programme added value and improved resilience of selected agriculture value chains, focusing on smallholder farmers and agro-entrepreneurs in targeted districts of Assam.
The coordinating agency for the project was Assam Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Services Society (ARIAS) Society while Grant Thronton LLP Bharat Ltd, CDTA; Assam was the technical agency to mobilize trainees for the programme. The programme trained 11 batches comprising 352 entrepreneurs altogether. They were the members of the Industry Association (IA) and Special Purpose Vehicle, stated a press release.
