GUWAHATI: Taking the cue from a directive issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup, the Director of Higher Education (DEE) has instructed the Registrars of Gauhati University and Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, as well as the principals of all government and provincialized colleges of the district, to exert extra vigilance to foil any untoward activity by saboteurs during celebration of Independence Day at the premises of their respective institutions.

The Kamrup Deputy Commissioner had stated in his directive to the Inspector of Schools and District Elementary Education Officer that "In view of the 76th Independence Day, 2022, there may be every likelihood of militants/terrorists trying to carry out subversive/disruptive activities. You are, therefore, asked to direct the principals/headmasters of schools under Kamrup district to keep a close watch on school campuses and ask them to liaise with police stations concerned, if necessary, to avoid any sabotage/untoward incident."
