Guwahati: Meghalaya's health minister Al Hek has informed that an employee of the Greenwood Resort in Khanapara, Guwahati, has tested COVID-19 positive in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district at the Assam-Meghalaya border.
Mr. Hek said that the patient, who hails from Khanapara in Ri Bhoi, was working in Greenwood Resort in the Assam-Meghalaya border. After the person tested positive in Assam, the Ri Bhoi administration also ran a test on him, which proved his COVID-19 positive status.
Confirming this, Himanshu Kalita, the Managing Director of the resort, said, "one of our employees of the Greenwood Resort - Guwahati has recently tested positive for COVID-19. He is a resident of Koinadhara, Khanapara and a Meghalaya local. The Government of Assam has thus transferred him to the health authorities of the state of Meghalaya for further treatment."
Kalita further stated that the employee had been working from June 8 to June 23 in the backend operations "and never came in direct contact with any guest during this period." He said that all the staff members have been tested and 70% have tested negative, and the rest of the test results are being awaited
"Our property is being regularly sanitized and once again, the safety of our guests is of the highest priority at Greenwood. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and wish a speedy recovery to our team member", he added.
Reportedly, there are a few guests at the resort who are right now in quarantine and the health officials often visit to conduct swab tests. It was during one such visit that the resort's management decided to get the employee, who reported feeling ill, tested.
Meanwhile, the management of the Greenwood Resort has urged the guests "to remain calm and vigilant of their health conditions."
