Ensure safety of ferry passengers: Minister Parimal Suklabaidya

GUWAHATI: Assam's new Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Monday paid a surprise visit to three ferry ghats - Guwahati-North Guwahati, Guwahati Madhyam Khanda and Guwahati Rajaduar - in Fancy Bazar area here.

Suklabaidya inspected the terminal facilities at the ghat and also interacted with the staff deployed there. He also inspected the Ropax vessels and talked to the passengers to learn about the problems faced by them.

The Minister directed the Deputy Director of the Inland Water Transport Department and other officials to ensure that all passengers are equipped with life jackets while travelling on ferries. He also asked the officials to ensure cleanliness at the terminals within a week.
