NEW DELHI: Former BJP MP Ramen Deka has lodged a complaint against Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ghanashyam Das alleging negligence of his duties Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Terming Ghanashyam Das as an "arrogant officer", Deka in his complaint lodged with the Speaker said that it's due to the negligence of the DC that the last installment of Rs 2.5 crore from the MPLAD fund could not be released by the Central government.
"When I enquired about the status of the documents required to be submitted for getting the MPLAD funds, Das did not cooperate with me. In fact, he also refused to respond to my queries," said Deka.
He added that being an IAS officer and sitting in a responsible position, Das should not be so arrogant.
"The MPLAD fund is for the development of constituency. It is due to the non-cooperation of the district officers concerned that development works get hampered," said Deka.
Deka represented the BJP from Assam in the 15th and also the 16th Lok Sabha.
"I was an MP from Assam for two consecutive terms. The DC should have some respect and give replies to my queries," added Deka.
He further stated that he will also approach to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against the DC for his negligence of his duties.
"I will appeal the PMO to evaluate the performance of the DC…and if he is found negligent in his duties then he should be punished," said Deka.
Ghanashyam Das is a 2012 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
