GUWAHATI: The executive meeting of the State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Mahila Morcha was held at the Saffron party's headquarters in Hengrabari on Saturday. Addressing the meeting, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog laid stress on the social status of women in the present time.
"Though women are worshipped, they are being deprived of education and various other rights in the society. If a woman is fully educated, then she will become independent and empowered. Moreover, the menace of child marriage and dowry are also affecting a section of women from moving forward in the society," said Neog.
Addressing the attendees, State BJP president Bhabesh Kalita underlined that the BJP-led government has undertaken various schemes for the empowerment of women. He stressed that the BJP Mahila Morcha should make every woman of the State aware of the party's schemes.
Attending the meeting virtually, BJP national general secretary Dilip Saikia said that the government has focused on the development of women in the State Budget 2021-22.
He appealed to the party workers to make sure that women of the State can move forward with the developmental schemes introduced by the government.
The meeting was attended by various members of the Morcha and the welcome address was given by Mahila Morcha's president Aparajita Bhuyan.
