GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday ordered resumption of ferry services on the Brahmaputra between Guwahati and North Guwahati as the water level of the river is "at steady state".
Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha stated in the order, "Seen and perused the letter received from the Executive Engineer, Inland Water Transport Division, Ulubari, Guwahati …. regarding resumption of Ferry Services with effect from 04/07/2022 for day time only, i.e., up to 6:30 pm."
It may be noted that ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati had been suspended on Friday due to the rising water level and heavy currents in the Brahmaputra.
It may be mentioned that in view of the recent suspension of ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati due to high water level of the river Brahmaputra, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) had earlier reduced the fare of its ropeway service in the route by 50 per cent.
