GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has asked the Home Department, Assam to file a detailed affidavit on 'fake encounters' in the next hearing of the PIL 56/2021 on November 14, 2022.

Delhi-based advocate Arif Jwadder filed a PIL in the high court in 2021, alleging around 80 fake encounters in Assam after the present dispensation coming at the helm of affairs in the state.

With the State Home Department not filing its affidavit today, the high court fixed November 14, 2022, as the next date of hearing of the PIL.

In the hearing on July 29, 2022, the high court had directed the State Home Department to file its affidavit.
