Finance Minister Ajanta Neog takes stock of preparations for event on Lachit Barphukan

GUWAHATI: State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on Thursday visited Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi to take stock of the preparations for the ensuing 400th anniversary of great Ahom general Lachit Barphukan. She is heading the Food Committee of the upcoming celebration. She was accompanied by UG Brahma, Minister, Handicrafts and Textile, and MLA Diganta Kalita.

The Finance Minister attended a series of meetings related to the event. Soon after her visit to Vigyan Bhavan, the minister chaired a meeting of the Food Committee at Assam Bhavan. Apart from Diganta Kalita, MLAs Dr Amiya Kr Bhuya and Manab Deka were also present in the meeting. Minister Neog expressed the hope that the visitors as well as the guests would have a satisfactory culinary experience.

Meanwhile, efforts are on full-swing to ensure the mega event, organized to spread the heroics and glory of the great Ahom general, a grand success. The event is likely to be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and several other union ministers, stated a press release.
