Guwahati: There has been some improvement in the health condition of former Assam Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi. He has been removed from the non-invasive ventilator. The 86-year old leader continues to be in ICU but his condition is no longer critical, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Abhijit Sarma said.
"Though he is out of danger, he would be kept under observation for the next 24 hours. He is already recovering. He would be better soon. He spoke to his son (Gaurav Gogoi, MP from Kaliabor)," Dr. Sarma told reporters in Guwahati.
Gogoi was rushed to the hospital on Sunday night after he complained of restlessness. The three-time Chief Minister of Assam was earlier admitted to GMCH after he tested positive for COVID-19 on August 26. After battling the virus for 60 days at GMCH, he finally tested negative and was discharged by the hospital last month.
Tarun Gogoi was suffering from post-COVID complications, for which the government deputed a team of doctors for treatment at his official residence.
