GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi along with the First Lady Prem Mukhi attended the '552nd Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji' at a Gurudwara at Sarabhati here on Friday.

Attending the Gurudwara, he greeted people on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and also prayed for the welfare of all sections of the people of the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Prof. Mukhi said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelled far and wide to spread the message of one God. He showed the path of unity and harmony to lead a lifestyle based on honesty and self-respect. His message of 'Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vand

Chhako' contains the essence of all his teachings which is highly relevant even today. Guru Nanak's preaching teaches the humanity the language of love, harmony and respect. He condemned slavery and racial discrimination and said that all are equal.

The Governor also extended his wishes to all the followers and said that he sincerely believed that the celebrations of this event will strengthen the bond of universal brotherhood and the feeling of harmonious co-existence in the society. He also appealed to everybody to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji to contribute to strengthening the society of his dreams.
