GUWAHATI: Altogether four films from Assam have been selected to feature in the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) 52nd edition slated has announced the selection of films for the Indian Panorama section to be screened during its 52nd edition in Goa.

Notably, the festival's 'Indian Panorama 'Feature Film' section will commence with the Dimasa film 'Semkhor' directed by — Aimee Baruah — from Assam. Aimee is also in the cast.

The other two films from Assam in this section are 'Sijou' — a film in the Bodo language. It is directed by Vishal P. Chaliha; and 'Boomba Ride' (in the Mishing language). It is directed by Biswajeet Bora.

Mentionably in the 'Non-Feature Film category of IFFI-2021, Assamese film 'Veerangana' has been selected. It is directed by Kishore Kalita.

The festival is being organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals of India, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Government of Goa from November 20 to 28.

A total of 25 feature films have been selected to be screened during IFFI. Selected from a wide pool of 221 contemporary Indian Films, the package of feature films reflects the vibrancy and diversity of the Indian Film Industry.

The 'Feature Film Jury', comprising 12 members, is headed by acclaimed Filmmaker and actor, S V Rajendra Singh Babu.

The primary aim of the 'Indian Panorama section is to select the feature and non-feature films of cinematic, thematic, and aesthetic excellence for the promotion of film art through the non-profit screening of these films under different categories.

Since its inception, the Indian Panorama has been completely devoted to showcasing the best Indian films of the year.
