GUWAHATI: Along with many iconic buildings of the country and the world, the Gandhi Mandap here will be lit in blue on World Children's Day on November 20 as part of UNICEF's Go Blue campaign. The campaign is aimed at raising awareness on child rights and the impact of COVID-19 on the lives of children.

The decision to turn the Gandhi Mandap blue was taken at a meeting held on Tuesday between the authorities of GMDA (Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority) and UNICEF.

Talking to The Sentinel, GMDA CEO Umananda Doley said the Gandhi Mandap will be ignited with blue lights to support the campaign. "Gandhi Mandap is an iconic spot of the city and it can be witnessed by people from various parts of the city," said Doley.
