Guwahati: Bail Plea has been taken up at Gauhati High Court for Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) on Friday. Next hearing has been scheduled by the court on Nov 19.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Huzefa Ahmadi from Delhi represented Gogoi and argued for about three hours. He argued that the two key witnesses' statement on the basis of a charge sheet has been filed against Gogoi under UAPA was just not adequate.
A division bench of Guwahati HC consisting of justices Kalyan Roy Surana and Ajit Borthakur heard Gogoi's plea seeking bail.
The senior advocate pointed out that some information based on the statement of the two witnesses hidden by the investigating agency.
Solicitor General, Tushar Mehta is possibly to argue for the investigating agency, NIA in the next hearing on November 19.
