The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) authorities have started a vaccination drive against yellow fever for the people. This vaccination drive will be carried out in the annexed hospital, Dhirenpara First Referral Unit (FRU), in Guwahati.

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) authorities have started a vaccination drive against yellow fever for the people. This vaccination drive will be carried out in the annexed hospital, Dhirenpara First Referral Unit (FRU), in Guwahati. The process for the same started on Saturday. The announcement given by the superintendent of the GMCH mentioned that the vaccine will be available on all working days during the Outpatient Department hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., as an official notification by the superintendent of the GMCH stated.

The announcement also mentioned that there is no necessity for any prior registration to get this vaccine and that a certificate will be issued thereafter. It can be noted that yellow fever is a vector-borne viral disease caused by an arbovirus. The Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are the primary vectors of the illness, and the infection is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito.
