Gauhati University (GU) Post Graduate Students’ Union Election

GUWAHATI: Gauhati University (GU) organized the Post Graduate Students’ Union Election 2019-20 on Tuesday. The election was held for 15 different offices including the president, vice-president, general secretary, assistant general secretary, library secretary, music secretary, cultural secretary, debate & symposia secretary, major games secretary, minor games secretary, sports secretary, boy’s common room secretary, girl’s common room secretary, gymnasium secretary and social service secretary.

The candidates for president are Anurag Kalyan Borgohain from the department of Botany, Shrestha Krishnan Dutta from the department of Sociology and Siddhartha Pator from the department of Geography. The vice-president candidate Lakhyajit Das from the department of Communication and Journalism has won uncontested already. The candidates for general secretary are Abdul Matin Khan from the department of Arabic, Himadri Sharmah from the department of Sanskrit and Moon Talukdar from the department of Communication and Journalism.

The votes will be counted from 10 am on Wednesday and results will be declared the same day.
