GUWAHATI: The application submitted by the Vice-Chancellor of Don Bosco University for quashing the FIR and investigation against him in George Bordoloi suicide case, came up for hearing on Tuesday before the vacation bench of the Gauhati High Court.

George Bordoloi, a Guwahati-based entrepreneur, committed suicide on May 23, 2022. In a note that he left behind, he accused Don Bosco University VC Father Stephen Mavely of abetting his suicide, among other things. George Bodoloi's son had lodged an FIR at Sonapur Police Station in this regard and the Sonapur Police had registered a case (113/22 u/s 306). Sonapur Police had arrested Father Mavely. He was later released on bail.

Father Mavely had submitted an application in the Gauhati High Court for quashing the FIR and investigation against him. The court on Tuesday closed the application because the police have already filed a chargesheet in the case.
