GUWAHATI: Guwahati saw the end of the Global Climate Action Week on Friday, with the Climate Emergency concert organized by the Guwahati chapter of Fridays for Future. This concert, which saw a huge crowd, was held at Shraddhanjali Kanan and it was filled with many programmes apart from various bands. They showcased a couple of different skits and dramas, as well as short talks by different NGOs to make people aware of the things they can do to make sure that the 8 years that have been left for a change has not gone to waste.

A drama performance by the children under FASCE India captivated the audience’s attention for 20 minutes. The children beautifully portrayed the harsh reality in which the common man keeps on exploiting the nature. Another skit, performed by various students, all young boys and girls still in colleges, showed the various simple and yet effective ways that society can take up to fight against this emergency.

There was also a presentation by the Street Animal Welfare group which enlightened people as to how they can do their bit through human actions. Arunav aka Aughad is a rapper hailing from Guwahati, whose impactful lyrics and catchy beats left the audience thrilled. The issues that he rapped on were ones that were relevant to everyone’s life, such as climate change, the hypocrisy of society, and also dedicated one to the jawans killed in the Pulwama attack. Bottle Rockets India, another band also mesmerized the crowd with their soulful tunes. Rain in Sahara was a welcome sight to the audience.
