Guwahati: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Wednesday sealed one sweet factory at Machkhowa near AT Road Flyover, Guwahati, for violation of GMC rules and bye-laws.
The sweet factory was identified as Ganesh Rai Sweets.
The GMC's Health, Enforcement and Hoarding Branches also conducted a separate drives around A.T. Road and Chandmari areas of Guwahati.
''A total of 8 (eight) numbers of shops/business establishments operating under A. T. Road flyover area were inspected, out of which a helmet shop named "Ankit Auto Agencies" was found to be running without valid trade license,'' an official statement added.
The statement further said that issues regarding health and hygiene were detected in a sweet factory at A.T. Road.
''Two vehicles were also penalized for unauthorized display of glow sign,'' the statement added.
It further informed that moreover one unauthorized rooftop hoarding located near Chandmari flyover was evicted and completed by 60% and a total of 230kg of iron scrap was collected.
''Penalties were imposed and notices were served as per the provisions of the GMC Act for violations of specific rules and regulations,'' it added.
The GMC colleted an amount of Rs. 1,95,000/ was collected as penalty in the process.
