GUWAHATI: Despite the continuous appeals by the Government to follow the nationwide lockdown, a section of people are taking the battle against the coronavirus lightly by not following the guidelines. In various places from Jalukbari to Khanapara people are roaming on the streets on the pretext of buying essential commodities. Vehicles can be spotted with an ‘essential services’ sticker pasted to the front windscreen.

But the question that arises is whether the police are checking these people or not. The Assam Police has made 76 arrests and have seized 2,000 vehicles in the city so far. However, in various lanes of GS road, people are not following the social distancing norms and are weakening the nation’s fight against the pandemic.
