Guwahati all set to host Filmfare Awards on February 15, 2020

GUWAHATI: Guwahati is all set to host the prestigious Filmfare Awards on February 15, 2020, at Sarusajai here.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, ATDC (Assam Tourism Development Corporation) Jayanta Malla Baruah said, "Eight promos have been made with a focus on Awesome Assam for the Filmfare Awards so as to boost tourism in the State. The promos will be screened during the Filmfare Awards."

The programme will be hosted by Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal. According to arrangements, the audience will have to take their seats by 5.30 pm and the shows will begin at 6 pm.

A list actors who will come to Guwahati for this mega-events are Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar, Suni Leone, Madhuri Dixit, Disha Patani, Radhika Apte, Kartik Aaryan, Ayushmann Khurana, Sidhant Chaturvedi, Rajkumar Rao, Ali Fazal, Manish Paul, Sooraj Pancholi, Bhumi Pednekar, Parineeti Chopra, among others.

Other tentative actors who are scheduled to come to Guwahati are Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Hema Malini, and others.

Baruah further informed that Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Amir Khan would not come to the mega event. "Shah Rukh Khan went for a knee surgery today. Big B Amitabh Bachchan has already confirmed his non-participation to the event because of ill health," he said. The Sarusajai Stadium has a capacity of 7,006 seats. While the celebrities who will receive the awards will arrive in Guwahati on February 15, other performers in the event will be here on February 14.

Altogether 150 Assamese artistes will perform in the mega event, and three of the performances will focus on the Assamese culture – Bihu, Xatriya and tribal dance.
