GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the inauguration of the Maligaon Flyover on August 30, and with less than a week left, work is going on in full swing. Even the artists are working hard on the decorative touches for the flyover. Murals of wildlife, including animals and birds, places of interest, traditional motifs, and textile designs are being created on the flyover. The work of completing the painting is being done by Nilim Mahanta (Living Art) and his team, who have also worked on the supermarket flyover in the city.
The artist has appealed to the public not to spit on the road and destroy the paintings. Not only does it destroy the art and make the hard work go to waste, but it also puts a bad name on the people of the city. He pointed out that it was not possible for people to stay on the lookout for such miscreants, so he requested that the people perform their own civic duties to keep the new flyover clean. He also mentioned that if someone is caught on camera, they should be heavily fined so that other people do not repeat the same mistakes.
