Guwahati Bihu Sanmilan installed 'Lai khuta' in Latasil

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Bihu Sanmilan – one of the oldest organisers of Bihu credited to have brought Bihu from the open field to the stage – installed the 'Lai khuta' (ceremonial post) for celebrating the ensuing Rongali Bihu from April 14 to 17. The 'Lai khuta' was installed by Kandarpa Sarma – one of the founders of the Sanmilan — at its traditional venue in Latasil here on Thursday. The occasion reverberated with the 'urulis' (ululations) and 'shankha dhwanis' (blowing of conches) by the womenfolk.
