Guwahati: Fire breaks out in food stall near Dighalipukhuri

GUWAHATI: An incident of fire took place in the area near Dighalipukhuri, triggering a scare among the sellers as well as the customers. The incident took place on Friday night, when the locality was usually filled with people. A battery used for lighting in one of the stalls reportedly caught fire. The flames spread rapidly and soon consumed the kiosk where it originated as well as two more stalls near it.

Although no one was injured in the incident, the three kiosks suffered damages, and the incident triggered panic among the people present there as people first thought that a cooking gas cylinder had caught fire. Quick action on the part of the people present in the locality prevented a major mishap in the locality as there were a large number of stalls, and almost all of them had some form of combustable substance.
