Guwahati: First phase of Gunotsav concludes

The first phase of Gunotsav-2024 was successfully completed on Saturday, which was held from January 3 to Saturday in 12 districts of Assam, namely Barpeta, Bajali, Hojai, Karimganj, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, and Udalguri.

GUWAHATI: The first phase of Gunotsav-2024 was successfully completed on Saturday, which was held from January 3 to Saturday in 12 districts of Assam, namely Barpeta, Bajali, Hojai, Karimganj, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, and Udalguri.

A total of 15,04,939 students from classes I to IX of 16,792 schools (government/provincialized schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas, and Tea Garden Management schools) were evaluated in the exercise. During the evaluation process, IAS, IPS, IFS, ACS, APS, AFS, and Class-I and II officials of the state government, etc. took active part as external evaluators. Similarly, ministers, MPs, MLAs, CEMs, and EMs also took part in various schools as external evaluators and interacted with the students, teachers, parents and guardians, mother groups, community members, etc.

On the first day of external evaluation (i.e., January 4, 2024), Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited Keotkuchi M.V. School, Juroram Pathak Girls HS School, and 534 No. Sundardia LP School of Barpeta district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members, etc.

Similarly, Minister, Environment & Forest, Act East Policy, Welfare of Minorities Chandra Mohan Patowary visited Damdama HS School and Amingaon Bengali LP School of Kamrup district; Minister, Revenue & Disaster Management, Hills Area Development Jogen Mohan visited Longri English LP School, Semson Sing Engti Memorial LP School, Diphu Government Boys HS School, and Mohondijua High School of Karbi Anglong district; Minister, Housing & Urban Affairs, Irrigation Department Ashok Singhal visited Rashtra Bhasha Vidyapith HS School, Kokrajhar Girls HS School, and Adarsha Vidyalaya (MS) Kokrajhar of Kokrajhar district, and they act as external evaluators.

On the second day of external evaluation (i.e., January 5, 2024), Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited Bezbaruah HS Government School, Government HS and MP School, and Sivasagar Government MV School of Sivasagar district; Minister of Transport, Excise, and Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya visited Barapujia Govt. MV School and Sialmari MV School of Nagaon district; Minister of Environment & Forest, Act East Policy, Welfare of Minorities Chandra Mohan Patowary visited Madhab Dev High School in Kamrup district, and they act as external evaluators.

Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education & Research, Science & Technology, Information Technology Keshab Mahanta visited Kuwaritol HS School of Nagaon district. The Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, Paban Kumar Borthakur, IAS, visited 62 No. Amingaon L.P. School of Kamrup district and acted as an external evaluator. He also interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members, etc. during his visit.

On the third day of external evaluation (i.e., January 6, 2024), Minister of Transport, Excise, and Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya visited Janakalyan LP School of Hojai district, and Minister of Industries & Commerce and Public Enterprise Department, Cultural Affairs Bimal Bora visited Sankardev Mission High School of Udalguri district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, etc. and also acted as an external evaluator, stated a press release.
