Guwahati: Landslides were reported from various parts of Guwahati on June 15 due to torrential rain, which also caused heavy waterlogging in most parts of the city.
One person has been left injured after a house was entirely destroyed by a mudslide emanating from the hills.
As per reports, the incident took place in Namoni area of Kamakhya in Guwahati.
The injured person has been identified as Moni Dutta while the incident occurred at the residence of Mondeep Mazumdar.
Meanwhile, a total of five people have been killed so far. Four construction workers were buried alive due to a massive landslide on June 14 at Boragaon in Guwahati and another person died as his house got inundated.
Floods continue to ravage Guwahati as various parts of the city have been drenched for the third consecutive day on June 16 due to torrential rain.
Areas like Rukminigaon, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Hatigaon, Zoo Road etc have been severely affected and are still deluged by floods.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel have been deployed so as to carry out relief work in various parts of Guwahati which have been hit hard by waterlogging.
Incessant rain coupled with thunderstorms have wreaked havoc across Assam and has reduced the daily activities to a standstill.
The people were severely affected as a result of it; some business establishments were forced to shut down, people got stuck in traffic jams for a long time in some areas, and personal properties and infrastructure were severely damaged.
