Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation's (GMC) Town Vending Committee has designated eight vending zones across the city.
The total number of street vendors to be relocated in these vending spots is 599.
According to an official statement of GMC, a 'No Vending Zone' has been designated from Goenka Point near Sikh Temple to M.G.Road near LICI Office.
Vending Zone:- 8(eight) nos of vending zones have been notified by the Town Vending Committee of GMC.

The municipal corporation has been taking a strict action against those who are operating their business from an unauthorized place. In December last year, GMC had carried out an eviction drive against unauthorised vendors.
The joint inspection was conducted by the Veterinary and Enforcement Branch of the GMC and the Assam Police team and it included the areas of Ajanta Path, Survey, Beltola Bazar, Jayanagar Chariali, Basistha Chariali, Lalmati, Beharbari, Bhetapara, Hatigaon Road, Kahilipara, Jatia and Bhangagarh area.
The roadside and footpath vendors who were selling poultry, mutton, fish, pork and vegetables without permission were evicted in this drive.
259 unauthorized vendors of fish, poultry, mutton and pork were evicted during the time of the drive. 70 mutton shops were inspected and 60 kg of mutton, 200 kg of poultry, 50 kg of vegetable, 70 kg of pork and 35 kg of fish have been confiscated.
The violators were imposed with a penalty of Rs. 25,000 by the GMC and the confiscated materials have been disposed of at Boragoan dumping ground.
Recently, on March 1, the Guwahati Police Commissioner has prohibited footpath and street business across two areas under the Bhangagarh and Dispur Police Station (PS).
In this regard, the office of the commissioner of police had issued an order which stating that the general commuters often face problem as the footpaths were filled with street vendors.
"It is necessary to take preventive measures to ensure free and smooth movement of public, smooth flow of traffic and normal functioning of business establishments nearby in the mentioned areas," the order read.
The areas include Bhangagarh Flyover to Roopnagar Rotary and from Six Mile Flyover to Panjabari.
