GUWAHATI: Every other household has faced the problem of water supply, and those who receive it are not in proper condition. The water that is supplied by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is still a problem, and various places are yet to get proper water.

GMC has a total of three water treatment plants in Panbazar, Satpukhuri, and Kamakhya. But these are not in the right condition; or can say they are poorly built up or are dirty. The places that receive GMC water are GS Road, Christian Basti, Shantipur, Rehabari, and more. Residents are facing problems as they are facing not only a water crisis but also getting contaminated water.

People that receive GMC water are complaining regarding the muddy water supply, but their voices are all in vain.

According to the residents, "We do not get water regularly, and the water we get is either muddy water or no water. And this water cannot be used for any household work."

Another resident from Christian Basti said, "We get water maybe after a week or so. When we file a complaint, the authorities tell us to buy bottled water, which is impossible as we cannot buy bottled water every day as it is quite expensive."

Also, one of the reasons for the shortage of water is due to pipe leaks. Even if we get water, it is either contaminated or it has no force", another added.
