GUWAHATI: The GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) has initiated a process to increase its revenue collection and in this regard has entrusted eight senior officers to look after six zones under the Corporation.
The officials will work under Joint Commissioner-I Satyajyoti Baruah in Central Zone and Lokhra Zone, Joint Commissioner-II Siddhartha Goswami in West Zone and Dispur Zone, and Municipal Secretary Aditya Gogoi in South Zone and East Zone.
The officers will formulate an action plan and will look after steps that need to be taken to enhance revenue collection of GMC which includes — property tax collection, issuance and renewal of trade licenses, assessment/re-assessment of property etc.
They will provide required guidance to the deputy commissioners under them and will also visit the field for random checking.
Senior Medical Officer and Veterinary Officers of GMC are entrusted with the duties to review trade licenses issued and renewed under the Health and Veterinary Branch of GMC respectively.
Moreover, the Senior Medical Officer, Veterinary Officer, all Deputy Commissioners of GMC have been strictly directed to address public complaints on priority. The GMC Additional Commissioner will be the in-charge of all revenue-related branches of GMC.
