Guwahati: After issuing a stern warning to cab associations and ride-hailing platforms such as Ola, Uber, Rapido and Peindia, a meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha with representatives these companies and the Owners' Association, wherein, various issues and complications related to the cab services was discussed.
In the said meeting, several resolutions have been taken to provide a better and hassle-free cab service to the passengers.
The following decisions were taken in the meeting:
1. Uniforms for cab drivers have been made compulsory by the district administration.
2. The district administration have asked these service providers to have a local office in the city.
3. Nodal officers should be deployed in the local office.
4. In terms of payment, cab drivers will have to provide both online and offline facilities to passengers for paying the fares.
5. Four-wheelers must be operated with AC.
6. Any cab driver can't cancel a trip without valid reason.
7. All cab operators like Ola, Rapido, Uber, PeIndia and etc must have a telephone number for ease of communication.
The district administration has also asked that the drivers and companies of all the cab operators must sort out their internal issues, and complaints soon.
Earlier, taking the cognisance of several complaints by customers against these cab operators, the Transport Department had opened a helpline number where customers can register their complaints regarding alleged unfair practices and violation of consumer rights.
