Guwahati: Police Arrest Fraudster For Duping Women On Pretext of Giving Jobs

Guwahati: The Basistha Police on Wednesday apprehended a fraudster for duping women on the pretext of providing jobs.

The fraudster was nabbed following a complaint lodged by a woman who has been a victim. He has been identified as Lakhi Prasad Teli.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), the fraudster allegedly used to assault women in the name of providing jobs to them.

So far, Lakhi Prasad Teli had duped many women and physically assaulted them earlier.

Reports further said that he was working as a home guard earlier.

On May 1, 2022, the Bhangagarh on Saturday arrested a fraudster named Konkon Das from the Dispur area on the charge of cheating a person over a land deal.

Police sources said that Das duped a man of Rs 22 lakh in 2020 on the basis of a fake land sale deal.

Das hails from Hojai and is now staying in the Geetanagar area here, the sources said, adding that he has been arrested in connection with a case (140/2022) registered at the Bhangagarh Police Station.
