Guwahati: A Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) team busted ATM swapping gang and nabbed two persons here on Friday.

The arrested person was indentified as Mintu Rahman of Ganesh Nagar and Ramez Ali of Barpeta.

The team also recovered 36 ATM cards, 2 POS swipe machines, 1 country-made pistol, 1 dummy pistol, 1 Toyota Fortuner along with Rs 18,000 cash from their possession.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Guwahati Police that further investigation is underway.

''CGPD team from Geetanagar PS busts ATM swapping gang with the arrest of Mintu Rahman of Ganesh Nagar & Ramez Ali of Barpeta. 36 ATM cards, 2 POS swipe machines, 1 country made pistol, 1 dummy pistol, 1 Toyota Fortuner & ₹18,000 cash were recovered. Further investigation is on,'' the police tweeted.

Prior to this, in the month of July, CGPD arrested a woman and seized a fake currency note printing machine from her possession.

The arrested woman was identified as Usha Barman, a resident of Jyoti Nagar, Bamunimaidam.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, the Guwahati Police said, ''A CGPD team from Chandmari PS bust a big scam when it arrested one Usha Barman after raiding her home in Jyoti Nagar, Bamunimaidam & recovering FICN 21,500 (500 × 43 Nos) along with a so-called FICN printing machine. Legal action has been initiated.''

Fake notes amounting to Rs 21,500 was also seized from the woman.

Reportedly, at that time it came to the fore that the woman was operating a beauty parlor near her apartment.

Following the seizure of the printing machine, a case was registered against her under the relevant sections of IPC at Chandmari police station.

In addition to this, in February this year, the team also arrested two thieves named Rohit Ali and Hira Basfor, from the Nepali Mandir area for mobile-phone snatching. Further investigation led to the arrests of two more miscreants, Nitu Das and Simanta Rabha, for dealing in stolen mobiles.

According to police sources, 20 mobile phones and Rs 31,200 in cash were recovered from them.
