Guwahati Police destroys illicit liquor in city

GUWAHATI: An operation undertaken by the Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District led to the destruction of several consignments of illegally produced country liquor in different parts of the city.

Police teams carried out raids against illicit liquor in several parts of the city like Beharbari, Lokhra, Tripura Road and Jayanagar. A total of 15 litres of such illicit country liquor was destroyed, according to the police sources. A fine of Rs 3000 was also collected during the operation.

The team also raided the Raju Dhaba and the Suresh Dhaba located in the Beltola region during this operation. A temporary naka checking was also conducted in the Khanapara locality of the city.
