GUWAHATI: The Police Commissionerate, Guwahati has registered 56 cases of vehicle theft as part of its crackdown on vehicle theft, drugs trafficking and mobile phone theft, in a span of 15 days from December 16, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

According to data, in this period of 15 days, Guwahati Police recovered four stolen four-wheelers, three stolen three-wheelers and 60 stolen two-wheelers. The total number of stolen vehicles recovered was 67 while 24 persons were arrested.

Guwahati Police Commissionerate registered 16 cases of offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act while 23 persons were arrested during the period from December 16 to December 31. Police seized 279.044 kg ganja, 355.535 gm heroin and 31.6 gm brown sugar.

On the other hand, three cases were registered under the Arms Act and six persons were arrested. A total of three arms were recovered/seized during these 15 days.

A total of 17 cases of mobile phone theft were registered by the Guwahati Police Commissionerate from December 16 to December 31. A total of 26 persons were arrested while 130 stolen mobile phone handsets were recovered/seized.
