Guwahati Refinery management reaches out to family of deceased contractual employee

 GUWAHATI: A meeting was held on Monday at Guwahati Refinery between Guwahati Refinery management and the representatives of contractor workers subsequent to the accident, which took place at a project site on June 10. In the meeting, the refinery management assured its full support in ensuring all statutory benefits reach the family of the deceased worker.

It is to be mentioned that one contractual employee engaged in the construction job at one of the project sites inside the refinery premises lost his life while working. The incident happened on June 10 when a heap of loose soil fell on the person. In the same incident, another contractual employee was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at one of the multispeciality hospitals in the city.

The refinery has also initiated action to hand over an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh to the spouse of the deceased contractual worker. Guwahati Refinery management is also ensuring that all required medical facilities are given to the injured worker, who is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital, stated a press release.
