Guwahati: Show-cause notice to MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah

GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah said that the party has already issued a show-cause notice against the MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah in connection to the hate speech incident. On being arrested on Tuesday night by the Assam police, Borah said that if the Congress had been in power in the state, they would have done the same.

Bhupen Borah also said that a show cause notice has been served, and the answer that Mollah would be answering would be sent to the Disciplinary Action Committee of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), and the final decision would be taken by the action committee.

Bhupen Borah, however, added that AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has about 35 cases regarding communal comments registered at different police stations across the state, but no action has been taken against him. He also mentioned that he will be happy if the government takes the same action against him as well.
