Guwahati: The Guwahati traffic police have revoked the licenses of 85 people as part of the city's anti-drunk driving effort on December 27. According to police, these individuals were apprehended at checkpoints all across the city.

According to the Guwahati traffic police, all of their licenses have been revoked, and they have each been fined Rs. 10,000.

In barely a week, Guwahati Police have booked at least 380 people during their latest anti-drunk driving campaigns.

It should be noted that the traffic police said earlier on Friday that they will be on high alert to track down intoxicated offenders in the city to guarantee that no accidents occur over the New Year.

Officials from the traffic police department have stated that they have devised a strategic strategy to reduce accidents in the city, particularly around the New Year. The police department has been asked by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to guarantee that no accidents occur during the New Year celebrations.

On the other hand on December 26, the Guwahati traffic police have suspended the licenses of 95 persons.

During the Christmas and New Year holidays, the traffic police have undertaken a thorough campaign to decrease accidents caused by driving while intoxicated. Overspeeding autos and careless driving that might result in severe accidents are avoided by the police.

The police have begun a program to avoid drunk driving accidents in the spirit of joy and celebration. Motorcyclists and rider passengers wearing protective gear are likewise scrutinised by the cops. Helmet rules have been enacted across the city, making it mandatory for every pillion and rider to wear a helmet.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has advised top officials and police agencies to keep strict monitoring to ensure that no mishaps occur during the New Year's Eve celebrations. The cops had already arrested 26 people for driving while intoxicated. All 26 people were fined 10,000 rupees and their driver's licences were suspended.
