Guwahati Youth Allegedly Rapes Teenage Girl In Inebriated State

Guwahati: A youth has allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl, who happens to be his friend, at a girl's hostel near Basistha Temple in Guwahati.

The incident unravelled when the girl and the boy held a small house party with alcohol on May 1 and once the girl got drunk, the boy took advantage of the situation and allegedly sexually assaulted the girl, after which he left the place.

According to reports, the girl has been residing in room no. 6 of a private hostel near Basistha Temple.

The incident came to the fore after the victim filed a complaint against her friend at Hajo police station on May 2.

The Hajo police along with Basistha police apprehended the culprit on May 5 in connection to the case and the arrest was made based on the girl's complaint.

The accused has been identified as Bisu Barman and he hails from Lalmati in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, in another despicable incident, a 16-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by her step-father in Guwahati's Chandmari on May 4.

According to reports, the victim is a class 10 student, and the incident took place in Chandmari's Bhaskar Nagar.

The accused spiked the victim with some drug and then allegedly raped her.

However, the accused has been nabbed by the police after the incident came to the notice of the girl's family.

Reportedly, the accused person has also committed such crimes earlier but they went unreported.
