GUWAHATI: Hatigaon police, in an operation to search illegal gold biscuits, finally happened to recover a stock of heroin. On the basis of an information, Hatigaon police conducted a search in five rent houses at Namghar Path, Hatigaon. During the search operation, the landlords could not furnish any details of their tenants. And during the checking of the rent houses, one tenant introduced himself as Babu, but he couldn’t show documents of his identity. The said person i.e. Babu was staying with his partner in the rented house. Babu informed that his documents were in his car parked in the downstairs. Then, he was asked to go to the downstairs and bring the documents, but he took advantage of the existing darkness, and absconded. Later, the police searched the rented room, and during the search, they recovered 69 soap cases filled with suspected heroin, cash worth Rs 7,56,680, four mobile phones, three keys of cars and one vehicle. Weighing of the suspected heroin is going on. And the partner of the accused Babu alias Rafiq, Pahi Das has been apprehended. Efforts are going on to trace the absconding criminal.
