GUWAHATI: Communist Party of India (CPI), Assam State Council secretary Munin Mahanta on Monday underlined that the State government should take responsibility for the survival of the financially weaker section of people who have been affected by the pandemic.
He stated that the CPI lauds the initiatives taken by the government in controlling the pandemic situation. However, he stressed that the government has turned a 'blind eye' towards the poor families "The covid curfew has affected the financially weaker section of people like the small traders, roadside vendors, daily wage earner, and rickshaw drivers. The government should take initiatives to help these people," said Mahanta.
Further, he expressed concern that the State is suffering from a shortage of COVID vaccines.
"We appeal to every organization, political party, and individuals to fight unite and fight the COVID situation," said Mahanta. The leader also asserted that the government should work in a war-footing manner to repair the embankments within the next 15 days as the monsoon season is ahead.
