Guwahati: Traffic
restrictions have been put in place on Thursday (November 26) owing to the
funeral procession of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
The Guwahati Traffic Police on Wednesday has issued traffic guidelines to be followed during the funeral procession that would begin from Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra at around 9 am.
According to the guidelines, traffic would be allowed only on one side of the road in the entire route.
The Chenikuthi bylane connecting to the Navagraha crematorium will be closed.
The road connecting the Navagraha temple to the cemetery will be closed.
Only outgoing will be allowed for the vehicles from the Navagraha side. The road leading towards Bhupen Hazarika's place near the Chandmari police station will be closed.
Regulate traffic will be allowed at TC point. The vehicles from Lamb road side will be diverted towards Dr.B.Borooah Road.
Traffic will be regulate traffic at Chandmari point. The vehicles coming from the Noonmati side will be diverted towards the Zoo road side.
Strict no parking rules will be in place on the following roads:
GNB road – from Guwahati club up to The Assam Tribune office- (both sides).
Navagraha road – from Silpukhuri up to beyond the cemetery.
Karnashal road – from Navagraha road turning up to Bhupen Hazarika house point.
Parking will be allowed at Engineering Field,
Chandmari. All vehicles of the
pilot/escort, protected persons coming to the funeral will be cut at the
Silpukhuri-Navagraha road junction and for parking, they shall proceed to the
AEI field, Chandmari or the Guwahati Club Rotary.
People who wish to attend the funeral will have to park their vehicles at the AEI field, Chandmari, and then proceed to the crematorium.
The last rites of the former Assam Chief Minister will
be performed at the Navagraha crematorium,
Guwahati on November 26, 2020.
