GUWAHATI: The Assam Police has decided to expeditiously install IP (Internet Protocol) and SIM based CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points of Guwahati city.

This was announced before mediapersons by the Special DGP (Law and Order), GP Singh after a review meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, all Deputy Commissioners of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police and Officers in-Charge (OC) under the Guwahati Police Commissionerate on Monday. The meeting discussed the general performance of the Guwahati police, law and order, crime and the future road map of the force for the next one year.

Singh said that the meeting discussed ways to make progress regarding unresolved crimes with a view to ensuring the safety of the public. The meeting dwelt on utilizing technology to provide a better standard of policing to citizens.

The Special DGP informed that installation of IP (Internal Portal) and SIM based CCTV cameras at entry and exit points of the city is expected to be completed within 45 days or so, adding that the funds for the purpose will be provided by Assam Police Headquarters.

The city police have already identified the points where the CCTV cameras are to be installed, Singh said.
